The Invisible Internet Project (I2P) is a garlic routing using overlay network and darknet that allows applications to send messages to each other pseudonymously and securely. Uses include anonymous Web surfing, chatting, blogging and file transfers. The software that implements this layer is called an I2P router and a computer running I2P is called an I2P node.

Hide.me is primarily a VPN service focused on providing strong encryption and user-friendly access to the internet, while I2P is a decentralized network designed for anonymous browsing and accessing hidden services. The key difference lies in their intended use cases; Hide.me is more suitable for general VPN usage, whereas I2P excels in anonymity and privacy for accessing the dark web.
